Dée Schimmel of Architectenbureau Jan Weeda bv: 'The day nursery ward of the Dijkzigt Hospital was a very special assignment. The day nursery is located in a historic building, it was not allowed to make any fundamental modifications. This proved to be a problem occasionally, because for a a day nursery specific demands in the field of safety and functionality apply. Together with the furniture makers of Devier we have made a wainscot and a number of dressing- and changingunits that can be quite easily removed from the building. Some kind of islands in a historic setting with old chimney-pieces, sliding-doors and ceilings. The whole operations went rather smoothly, the drawings with sketched ideas went back and forth a few times, that's all. Without one extra meeting everything still worked out fine.'
